CCMS Academic Team are WKAA Tournament Champions

The Calloway County Middle School Academic Team finished with the overall championship title at the mid-season tournament hosted by the West Kentucky Academic Association on November 22nd at WKCTC in Paducah.  The tournament included 16 middle school teams from all around Region One of Kentucky. 

In Quick Recall, the Lakers brought home the championship while remaining undefeated for the tournament. The Lakers won all four of their pool games to place them as the first seed in the round of sixteen. The Lakers then won all four of the single elimination games to bring home the trophy.  The Quick Recall team is composed of Ava Bogard, Hayden Gilbert, Collin Naber, Mason Falwell, Kyler McKeel, and Theodore Perlow.

Along with the overall championship, students were awarded medals in all areas of competition. In science, the Lakers took the top three spots with Collin Naber and Ava Bogard tying for the championship followed by Theodore Perlow in third place. The Lakers also took the top three spots in history with Theodore Perlow claiming first, followed by Mason Falwell in second, and Kyler McKeel in third place. CCMS had three students medal in Fine Arts with Hayden Gilbert taking second place, followed by Ellie Johnson in fourth, and Ella Finley in fifth place. In mathematics, Ava Bogard claimed the championship with Kyler McKeel in third place. The Lakers also claimed first place in Language Arts with Collin Naber while Leah Hughes followed in third place.
