Vayla Carlisle is the CCHS December Rotary Student of the Month

Calloway County High School senior Vayla Carlisle has been named the December Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Murray.
Carlisle is a stellar academic at CCHS and is on track to graduate in May as a valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average. She also achieved a 30 composite score on The ACT Test. She is a 2025 Governor’s Scholar, completing the program at Morehead State University. She has won academic awards in English II, Spanish I, Spanish II, and Marketing. She is enrolled in rigorous classes and will graduate CCHS with six dual credit college courses and a passing score on the AP Chemistry exam.
Carlisle is a gifted runner on the Laker track and cross-country teams. She has been awarded all-state honors in cross country three times and holds the school record in the 5k race. She was the cross-country regional champion as a junior in 2024.
Outside the classroom, she is involved with a variety of extra-curricular clubs. She was the state champion in Future Problem Solving Scenario Performance in 2024 and 2025. She was on the Laker FPS team that finished second in an international competition in June. She is the treasurer for the school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter and also is a part of the Academic Team, Beta Club, Student Council, Interact Club, National Honors Society, Lakers 4 Christ, and Leadership Tomorrow.
In the community, Carlisle has volunteered within the school district for events at CCHS and in other Calloway County schools. She has also volunteered to help with the Bridge-to-Bridge Trail Run and helped paint a mural in the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office in 2023.
After high school, Carlisle plans to attend Murray State University with a major in elementary education and a minor in art. She aspires to begin a career as an elementary school art teacher.
Vayla is the daughter of Jordan and Melody Carlisle.
