CCHS Future Farmers of America Compete at State Convention in Lexington

Calloway County High School's Future Farmers of America members attended the 96th Kentucky State FFA Convention in Lexington on June 12th. The chapter took home numerous statewide honors and awards.

CCHS junior Kelsey Spears won the State Fruit and Vegetable Public Speaking Contest. This is the 80th state championship from CCHS FFA over the last 21 years.

Senior Jacee McKeel was elected to serve as the 25-26 Kentucky FFA State Secretary. She is just the eighth ever state officer from a Calloway County school (pre and post consolidation).

Ellie Falwell, Cooper Housden, Jacee McKeel, Fulton Manning, Luke Murdock, Jayden Phillips, and Tyler Ward all earned their State FFA Degrees, the highest degree a member can receive from the state.

Abby Hathcock served as the Foundation Ambassador throughout the convention, and Lila Fulton and Evan Falwell served as delegates.

In other competitions, Ellie Falwell finished third in Vegetable Production, Gavin Luffman placed third in Service Learning, and Jacee McKeel took third in Poultry Production.

Regional champion teams also competed at the convention. The Record Keeping Team consisted of members Syrenity Byrley, Hanna Crouch, Albert Parr, and Emylee Thompson. The Parliamentary Procedure team members were Jacee McKeel, Cooper Housden, Ellie Falwell, Jayden Phillips, Jaylee McLeod, Fulton Manning, and Kelsey Spears. The Agribusiness Farm Management Team featured Evan Falwell, Elizabeth Lanier, Jayden Phillips, and Dakotah Pittman. Abby Hathcock, Cooper Housden, and Gabby Yocum were state qualifying speakers, and Ella Martin represented the region in the FFA Quiz competition.
