CCHS FRYSC Coordinator Lisa Hays is the December Laker Champion for Kids

CCHS FRYSC Coordinator Lisa Hays is the December Laker Champion for Kids

Calloway County Schools has named Lisa Hays as the December Laker Champion for Kids. Hays is the coordinator of The Harbour Youth Services Center at CCHS.

The Laker Champion for Kids is awarded each month to a Laker staff member who goes above and beyond for students and colleagues.

Hays was nominated by CCHS teacher Stacey Lee.

“She goes above and beyond for our students every day," Lee wrote. "She helps to ensure the needs of our students and their families are met. She not only helps the students that stop by the Harbour, but also reaches out to teachers and organizations to see how the Harbour can assist them and their students. She works numerous hours outside the regular school day throughout the year, but especially during the Laker Christmas season. Her dedication to ensure our high schoolers utilizing the Laker Christmas program receive many of their requested items is above and beyond. She is leaving us soon as she officially retires in December. Those are big shoes to fill, and I know she will be truly missed by the students and staff of CCHS.”

CCHS principal Steve Smith is also appreciative of the contribution Hays makes to the school.

“With a heart the size of a ship’s harbor, she is one of the most positive and thoughtful people you will ever meet," Smith said. "Beyond that, her mind never stops churning, thinking of innovative ways to help the students at CCHS.  It goes beyond collecting and providing food, clothes, and other necessities.  She plans guest speakers, Reality Store, Laker Christmas, as well as several other programs that benefit our school and community.  She keeps numerous irons in the fire at all times, yet she manages to stay on top of it all, and our school, students, and community are better because of her generous spirit and her steadfast commitment.”
