Makenna Perkins named February Rotary Student of the Month

Makenna

Makenna Perkins, a senior at Calloway County High School, has been selected as the February Rotary Club Student of the Month. She has a 4.0 grade point average, and is on track to be a valedictorian for the 2022 graduating class. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, where she serves as the Senior Vice-President. She is also in the BETA Club, service as the social chair. In varsity cheerleading, she is a team leader and was the manager for CCHS volleyball.  She also participates in United Champion Schools, Spanish Club, and is a current member of the Murray/Calloway County Leadership Tomorrow Program. 

She has won at both the regional and state competition levels on the FBLA marketing team, which won the regional competition and finished sixth in Kentucky. She has also been awarded the title of UCA All-American cheerleader honor and the pin it forward cheerleading award.  She has received the KHSAA Academic All-State First Team award for volleyball and cheerleading all four years of high school.  

Perkins is a 2021 graduate of the Commonwealth Honors Academy program. She has received outstanding student awards in CSC-199 and Accelerated Algebra 2. She is also a member of the Murray Elite Competition Cheer team.

She volunteers in her community at the Laker Harbor Backpack program, packing meals for families in COVID-19 pandemic, a mission trip to Denver, CO, Vacation Bible school, Operation Christmas Child, Needline, Lifehouse, and elementary carnivals.

She is the daughter of Aaron and Penny Perkins and a member of Westside Baptist Church. After high school, she plans to attend Murray State University to major in nursing, and also plans to achieve a master’s degree to become a certified nurse-midwife.
