Five students from Calloway County Middle School recently competed in Atlanta at the 2018 National History Bee. The tournament was hosted at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA and consisted of competitors from across the country. The students competed in four rounds of quick recall type questions and one exam round against regional winners for the chance at a national championship. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Lakers brought home some hardware. Isaac Martin, Jayden Morris and Cesar Villeda competed against nearly 450 students in pool play in their respective categories. They advanced through the pool play to qualify for the playoff round on Saturday morning. Both Isaac and Jayden were defeated in the playoff round, while Cesar Villeda continued through the rounds where he finished as a quarterfinalist. The CCMS History Team competitors are Aidyn Reed, Isaac Martin, Cesar Villeda, Gage Bazzell, and Jayden Morris. The CCMS History team is coached by Mitch Hultman and Scott Pile.
