CCMS Speech Take Third Place in State Tourney


The Calloway County Middle School Speech Team traveled to the University of Kentucky last weekend to compete in the Kentucky High School Speech League State Tournament.  The team placed 3rd in the state with 8 state finalists and 14 semi-finalists!  

Finalists include Quinlyn Moore who placed 3rd in broadcasting and 5th in dramatic interpretation.  The duo acting team of Brilee Garland and Kylee Carter placed 5th.  Amber Wu placed 4th in impromptu and 6th in extemporaneous speaking. In humorous interpretation, Brilee Garland placed 4th and Vayla Carlisle placed 6th.  Gracie Fike placed 5th in oratory. 

State semi-finalists included Isabella Braner in declamation, Courtney Hargrove in dramatic interpretation, Shakira Shouse in dramatic interpretation, Addy Lusk in both extemporaneous speaking and impromptu, Gracie Fike in impromptu and Faith McCafferty in prose. The duo acting team of Reagan Rice and Julianne Rudy along with the improvisational duo team of Vayla Carlisle and Brilee Garland were also semi-finalists.  State semi-finalists ranked among the top 12 competitors in the state.  

These CCMS students also contributed to the team's success: Hayden Arant, Abby Brown, Ava Moore, Payton Conklin, Hunter Ringstaff, and Charlotte Haws. 

The Calloway County Middle School Speech Team is coached by Jennifer Dunnaway and Scott Bonneau.
