Calloway County High School Principal Chris King has announced the hiring of the school’s new band director. Nick Calcamuggio was introduced to students, parents, and faculty members at a meeting on August 2 in the CCHS commons. He will also teach music classes at CCHS.
Calcamuggio has a wealth of experience in music and education. He comes to CCHS from Hopkinsville High School, where he was the assistant director of bands. Previously, Calcamuggio held numerous roles in music in Indiana, where he was a music director, camp clinician, and music tutor. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Louisville, where as a part of the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra he performed in Switzerland and Costa Rica.
Calcamuggio has also earned a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University and was a student teacher at CCHS in the spring of 2012. He recently married his wife, Abby, who is also an impressive musician.
“I’m very excited to return to the school at which I did part of my student teaching. I look forward to working alongside Mr. Kevin Suiter again and making outstanding music with the students at Calloway County High School,” remarked Calcamuggio.
Calcamuggio replaces Dr. James Derek Jones at CCHS, who left this summer for a position at Bethel University.
