Three freshmen participated in a practice FFA Creed Speaking Event (not a contest).  Great job to the Creed contestants pictured left to right, Jessica Wicker, Cami Neal, and Alyssa Wicker for their work and performance!
For the 5th consecutive year (it’s only been a contest 5 years!), a Calloway County student won the Job Interview Contest (now called Ag Employability Skills Contest).  Senior, Jonah Brannon “got the job,” with his stellar application, resume, cover letter, telephone contact, and personal interview.  This is Jonah’s 16th regional championship in less than 4 years of high school!!!  Special thanks to Conda Wilson and Steve Smith for proofing things for Jonah; and to Hutson and Murray Bank for assisting with interview preparation! On Friday, the Calloway County Ag Sales Team sold the judges on their product (propagation mats), and placed 1st in the region.  This is the 14th consecutive year that Calloway County FFA Members have won the regional championship in the Ag Sales Contest.  Team members are pictured left to right Brent McClard, Lindsey McNutt, Lexie Lamb, and Joza Mikulcik.

Dr. Derek Jones and the middle school band under the direction of Kevin Suiter performed several patriotic pieces at the Veteran's Day assembly at the middle school. CCMS choir under the direction of Leslie McManus perform at the Veteran's Assembly. SW Principal Josh McKeel is presenting 6th grader Kerrigan McManus with her winning check for the poster competition she entered last year as a 5th grader at SW.  Kerrigan won the local, regional and state competition for the Society Sons of the American Revolution's poster competition.  She then placed 2nd nationally.  Her poster is now on display at the National Headquarters and tours the country with other winning entries in regional displays.

Chemistry Team Champions for the 5th straight year at the MSU Chemistry Day Competition. Middle School First Lego League Students are working on their project preparing for their upcoming competition Dec. 10 at WKCTC.  Pictured left to right is Zoey Bradley, Madison Duncan, and Sara Arche CCMS girls softball team was recognized at the October school board meeting for finishing their season by placing 3rd in the state. CCHS Academic Team 2016-17 Academic Team
On Thursday, December 1st, Calloway County High School hosted the West Kentucky Academic Bowl District tournament, with Marshall County High School and Murray High School competing against the Lakers for a chance to advance to the regional finals. In round 1, the Lakers defeated Marshall County 40-7 to advance to the finals, where the Lakers defeated Murray, who had drawn a first round bye, 28-7.
